Salt Lake City, UT – MountainStar hospitals throughout Utah received national recognition for achieving exceptional patient outcomes during the past three years. In its annual study, Healthgrades®, the nation’s leading independent ratings organization, ranked St. Mark’s Hospital, Lakeview Hospital, Ogden Regional Medical Center and Mountain View Hospital among the best in the United States and in Utah for quality outcomes in multiple areas of patient care.
“This outstanding recognition belongs to the many caregivers and support staff at every MountainStar hospital who are dedicated to delivering the best patient care possible,” explains Pamela Bennett, vice president of quality at MountainStar Healthcare. “Through their considerable efforts, we consistently follow best practices at each hospital. We also develop and successfully implement quality improvement measures that are then implemented throughout our entire healthcare system.”
American Hospital Quality Outcomes 2013: Healthgrades Report to the Nation evaluates how approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide performed on risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for nearly 30 of the most common conditions treated and procedures performed from 2009 through 2011. The study analyzed data provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
According Healthgrades, this is the first time Americans can directly link the selection of a doctor to the hospital where they practice. This capability gives the healthcare consumer the power to differentiate the likelihood of a better health outcome on the basis of the hospitals objective quality measures, such as mortality, complications, safety and patient satisfaction.
The 10th annual Healthgrades study includes rankings based on patient outcomes in multiple areas of treatment including cardiac care, stroke care and orthopedic services. The following MountainStar hospitals achieved top rankings this year in comparison to other hospitals in Utah and across the nation.
